Hearing plays a vital role in your child's development. If your child is having difficulty hearing, he/she is missing important information to further develop articulation and language skills. Research has shown that children with hearing loss in the first 3 years of life have a significant delay in the articulation and language skills during their school years (ASHA.org). A hearing loss can be mild or severe. For example, a child who has frequent ear infections may be having a difficult time hearing the sounds in words and learning language. Early intervention is key. If you suspect your child is having a difficult time hearing, please have his/her hearing checked by a professional.
